A Chrome extension for the moment before you buy

You don’t pay with money. You pay with your hours.

Worth it? puts a small green pill next to every price on the internet, showing what it costs in hours of your work. $149 stops being a number and starts being a Tuesday.

You make
cart: empty. your hours are safe.

The math is rude on purpose.

Your brain is great at ignoring numbers with currency signs. It is terrible at ignoring its own lifespan. We exploit that.

exhibit 01 · at $15/hour

The $6.50 daily latte

26 minutes of work. Every day. You are the barista’s barista.

exhibit 02 · at $25/hour

The $1,199 new phone

Six work weeks. For the one with the slightly better camera than the one in your pocket.

exhibit 03 · at any rate

The $9.99 subscription

Small pill, but it says /mo. Because it bites you every single month, forever, until you die or unsubscribe.

Three steps. One of them is yours.

Install it, tell it one number, and go back to your life. The pills handle themselves.

1

Tell it what you make

Hourly rate or yearly salary, in any of 48 currencies. It guesses yours from your timezone and you can correct it. The number is saved on your device and goes nowhere, ever.

2

It does rude arithmetic

On shop pages, every price is divided by your rate, right where it stands. Sale prices win over crossed out theater, subscriptions get marked per month, and foreign currencies convert with daily rates.

3

You buy on purpose

Some things are absolutely worth the hours. Plenty of things are not. The whole trick is being able to tell which is which before the checkout button, not after.

It knows when to shut up.

A wrong badge is worse than no badge, so the engine is picky on purpose. Marketing theater, UI furniture and your own dashboards get nothing.

Every line on this receipt is a real rule, battle tested on real stores. The receipt is longer than most extensions’ entire logic. We are weirdly proud of it.
